WallBuilders’ goal is to exert a direct and positive influence in government, education, and the family by: “Rebuilding the walls” represents allegorically the call for citizen involvement in rebuilding our nation’s foundations. In the Old Testament book of Nehemiah, the nation of Israel rallied together in a grassroots movement to help rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and thus restore stability, safety, and a promising future to that great city. For David Mashabela radio and communication will always be his true passion.WallBuilders is an organization dedicated to presenting America’s forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on the moral, religious, and constitutional foundation on which America was built. He has for the past 12 years been running a communications firm named, you guessed it, Mashabela Creatives. David has recently completed a masters in business degree (MBA) with a thesis on How Effective Government Communication can have an effect on unemployment in Gauteng. He has served on the MTN Radio Awards steering committee as co-chair. These rather specialised skills have placed David Mashabela in a unique position to speak about radio, radio production, creative use of radio and effective communication on African Language radio stations with a good measure of authority, and also to deliver the best possible creative product using these mediums. These relationships come in handy when dealing with a mammoth radio campaign that requires everyone to be on point with their execution. The time spent at SABC Radio Sales has helped him develop a solid understanding of African Language radio stations and to build relationships with these stations, both in management and with presenters. He later got appointed as Creative Director for SABC Radio Sales because of his ability to make radio and advertising seem like they were made for each other and his ability to address clients’ marketing challenges with effective creative concepts on radio. Whilst at Saatchi he struggled to shake off the radio bug he’d caught at University, and so started freelancing as a weekly radio columnist for City Press, which led to him landing a job at Metro FM, first as the producer on the Breakfast show and then as the producer on the Afternoon drive.ĭuring the 6 years David spent at Metro FM, he acquired sound engineering and radio creative skills, which led to him producing radio adverts and offering a full service recording facility. Having completed a B Admin degree in 1995 at Westville University in Durban, David started his advertising career in client service at Saatchi and Saatchi, where he worked managing relationships between the creative agency and clients, for 6 years. Since 1998 David Mashabela has acquired a number of skills in the areas of marketing, advertising, communications and radio. King David hosts The Royal Playground weekdays 12pm to 3pm. His favorite stars are the Pleiades Cluster, his role model is the man in the mirror, he’s inspired by his nieces and nephews because they think nothing is impossible.
